LODA CONTRIBUTES TO EASING ACCESS TO SAFE MATERNITY SERVICES IN NYAMAGABE

Mothers in Gasaka Sector, Nyamagabe District, are celebrating improved access to maternal health services following the construction of a modern maternity building at Nyamagabe Health Center, which is now fully operational.

The new facility, was established through the Pro-Poor Development Basket Fund (PPD-BF) implemented by the Local Administrative Entities Development Agency (LODA).

The facility is one of the projects that have been visited recently by the development Partners and LODA’s team, and Nyamagabe District.

During the visit, one of the mothers receiving services at the health center had shared her joy, saying: “We are very happy to have this new maternity building. We sincerely thank His Excellency President Paul Kagame for bringing such progress to our community. Before, we had to go to Kigeme District Hospital to give birth, but now we can access the same quality services here. We are confident that our health, and that of our babies, will be better protected from pregnancy to childbirth.”

The maternity building at Nyamagabe Health Center is equipped with modern facilities to provide safe and dignified care for expectant mothers and newborns.

The Director General of LODA, Claudine Nyinawagaga, called on residents benefiting from these projects to take good care of them and make full use of the opportunities provided.

“We ask them to manage these projects well, so that they serve their intended purpose and deliver quality services. Proper management prevents them from wearing out quickly, allowing them to last longer, and enabling funds to be used elsewhere to bring similar services to areas that have not yet benefited” she insisted.

This fully equipped maternity facility joins two others, one built in Mugano Sector and another at the Nyarungwo Health Center in Nkomane Sector.
