LODA STRENGTHENS LOCAL CAPACITY THROUGH NATIONWIDE TRAININGS ON GRADUATION OUT OF POVERTY
The trainings, delivered in four cohorts between February and March 2026, brought together members of Graduation Committees, para-social workers, and local government staff from across the country. The initiative aimed to equip frontline implementers with the knowledge and tools required to effectively support vulnerable households on their journey out of poverty.
The training focused on enhancing participants’ capacity to coordinate, implement, and monitor graduation interventions at decentralized levels. Participants included district, sector, and cell-level staff, as well as para-social workers who play a key role in supporting households within communities.
Through a participatory approach combining presentations, discussions, and practical exercises, participants gained a deeper understanding of the graduation approach and their roles in delivering it effectively.
A key component of the training was the use of digital systems to improve service delivery. Participants were trained on the Poverty Graduation Management Information System (PGMIS), a newly established platform designed to enable coordinated, multi-sectoral tracking and management of graduation initiatives.
The training also covered the Imibereho System (Social Registry), which serves as the national targeting gateway and entry point to PGMIS, ensuring that support is directed to the right households.
By strengthening the use of these systems, the trainings are expected to improve data management, targeting accuracy, and monitoring of household progress.
By investing in the capacity of those working closest to communities, LODA and its partners are strengthening the foundation for more effective and coordinated service delivery.
