SUPPORTING VULNERABLE HOUSEHOLDS THROUGH SHOCK RESPONSIVE SOCIAL PROTECTION
The Government of Rwanda through the Local Administrative Entities Development Agency (LODA) remains committed to safeguarding the most vulnerable households through its shock responsive component under the Vision 2020 Umurenge Program (VUP). In response to recent disasters and health emergencies, LODA has provided targeted assistance to affected families in Rubavu and Nyabihu Districts.
In September 2024, LODA supported 72 households impacted by the May 2023 floods and landslides, which caused severe damage to homes and livelihoods. A total of 15,151,250 FRW was allocated to help these families recover and rebuild.
Additionally, in response to the Marburg virus outbreak, LODA extended emergency support to 358 vulnerable households between December 2024 and February 2025. A total of57,092,840 FRW was provided to ease the socio-economic impact on affected families and ensure their resilience during this crisis.
Through these timely interventions, LODA continues to strengthen Rwanda’s shock-responsive social protection system, ensuring that no vulnerable household is left behind in times of crisis.
